Meaning “Pool of Nectar,” this city was founded in 1579 by Guru Ram Das, the fourth Guru of Sikhism. His son built a temple within a pool believed to have miraculous healing powers and Maharaja Ranjit Singh later encrusted it with gold leaf. Upon arrival in Amritsar, our representative will meet you at the train station and transfer you to your hotel. After taking some time to rest, you will witness the Wagah Border Ceremony in a village near the road border crossing, goods transit terminal and railway station between Pakistan and India. The ceremony takes place two hours before sunset every day at the border gate, conducted by Indian Border Security Force (BSF) and Pakistan Rangers (PR).
