Rishikesh Haridwar Day Trip from Delhi

Next move to Mansa Devi Temple or Bilwa Tirath is a well-known pilgrimage site in Haridwar, believed to fulfill the wishes of its devotees. It is one of five hegira destinations (Panch Tirath) and forms part of the Siddh Peeth triangle alongside Chandi Devi and Maya Devi temples. If you’re visiting Haridwar, this temple should definitely be on your list!

After exploring the sites of Haridwar, we will make our way to Rishikesh, which is located just 26 kilometers away. We’ll take in all the sights and sounds that this spiritual city has to offer before continuing on with our journey.

In Rishikesh, two of the most iconic bridges are Lakshman Jhula and Ram Jhula. The former is a hanging bridge stretching 450 feet across the Ganges River at a height of 70 feet from the water. It’s located 3 kilometers away from downtown Rishikesh. Meanwhile, Ram Jhula is an iron Parallax Bridge built in honor of Lord Ram’s brother, Lakshman. This newer bridge spans over the Ganges as well.

Take a break and enjoy lunch at a nearby restaurant (at your own expense) before visiting some of the most iconic spiritual sites in Rishikesh, including Sivananda Ashram, Parmath Niketan Temple, Gita Bhavan, Swarg Ashram, Ma Anandamayee Ashram, Sapt Rishi Ashram, and The Beatles Ashram.

At sunset, experience the spiritual atmosphere of Haridwar as you visit Ganga Aarti at Har ki Pauri. Thousands of devotees have been gathering for decades to witness this beautiful aarti and pay homage to the sacred river Ganges.

The timeless tradition of lighting lamps in a clockwise direction accompanied by songs praising Mother Ganga continues to be an awe-inspiring sight. After the ritual is completed, devotees cup their hands over the flame and raise them up to their forehead as they seek purification and blessing from the Goddess.
